This project involved rebuilding barns and the workshop which had been badly damaged due to fire. These agricultural barns owned by the National Trust are of historic value.
Consisting of a Threshing Barn, Workshop and Granary with masonry constructed from red Devonian sandstone in un-coursed rubble bound by lime mortar and tiled with Welsh slate. The buildings were reinstated as closely as possible to their original form using traditional techniques and crafts. Both the Threshing Barn and Workshop were arranged over two floors with oak beams and flooring.
A piggery attached as a lean-to situated in the angle formed between the Threshing Barn and Workshop was included as part of the reconstruction.
The Granary required re-thatching in accordance with National Trust specifications in combed wheat reed as a single tied on coat.
