About Us

History and Evolution

The team of people at SCF have immeasurable knowledge and expertise. They have worked together for, on average 25 years. When it comes to the construction world their knowledge is second to none. The team (formerly together at STACEY Construction, Mike Stacey Ltd) have been a highly successful one, winning various accolades over the years including Esso’s main contractor for the South West Region, one of the three main national contractors we work for. This team has evolved with time and now specialises in Petrol Forecourt Construction (with associated buildings and mini shops) and Domestic Building. These create the main two divisions at SCF.

Petrol Forecourts

You, as our customer, will gain the benefits of our team’s enviable reputation for speed in construction, whilst keeping control of costs, all the while ensuring a first class job. The team were responsible for building the first ever Petrol Station (for Esso) built in only 40 days. With countdown boards and very tight programme control, a new industry record (which became the team’s standard) was set!

Today, petrol stations are more complex projects as most have mini-supermarkets also incorporated within them. With the shopfitters requiring 7 weeks, the industry standard is now a 16-18 week build time. The team at SCF will build one for you in 12-14 weeks. Whether it is a new build, decommissioning, tank removals, remediation, refurbishments or maintenance you require, we know what we are doing, and we do it exceptionally well. We will also give you a personal service which is often lacking in larger companies these days. You, will be our priority.

Domestic Building Division

The Domestic Building Team at SCF work on any project you may have up to a contract value of approx £500k. Here, house extensions, conservatories, garage building, ongoing maintenance, window replacement, renovations, and Listed Building work are the norm. We have great experience on the restraints and parameters affecting Listed buildings and the unique building methods required. With tight cost control from the experienced team, we can pass these benefits onto you. Tight programming will ensure your project is completed on time

Shaun Stacey

Shaun Stacey, Director
Shaun has over 30 years of experience within the construction industry, with 28 years of this at management and directorship level;  the value of projects he has overseen ranges from a few thousand pounds to many multi-million pound projects. With a unique hands-on upbringing, he is a rare director who fully understands the ‘nuts & bolts’ of a project throughout its whole construction. His knowledge is exemplary.

He has successfully managed construction on more than 1000  petrol forecourts across the UK since 1985. Successful long term experience with many national major clients including Esso, Shell, BP, Murco, Tesco, Mobil, Sainsbury’s, Somerfield, Roadchef, First, MOTO, & Texaco Chevron gives him a wealth of expertise and knowledge.

Alongside his team, all this results in SCF bringing to you, the client, professional advice at the outset, a quality completed job with which you will be delighted, and all on time and within budget.

When not working, you will either find Shaun clay shooting all over the country (he has represented England and GB numerous times, and indeed captained England), or creating wood art pieces which he exhibits!

Mike_Stacey

Mike Stacey, Founder of Mike Stacey Ltd.
Mike Stacey started taking on building projects in 1967, with Mike Stacey Ltd becoming incorporated in 1986, three years after his son Shaun had joined in 1983. Mike built an enviable reputation for excellent high-quality craftsmanship, fast and reliable service, and most of all an outstanding ability to achieve the client’s objectives earlier than anticipated whilst still within budget. The father and son team grew Mike Stacey Ltd into a £20 million construction business (known as Stacey Construction) building many of our well-known motorway service areas up and down the country along with their associated petrol forecourts, Travelodges and hotels. The construction of exclusive private properties became another key area of work within the business. Mike and Shaun together have been, and continue to be, a hard-working, forward-thinking, reliable, trustworthy and efficient team.

Time brings changes, and SCF focuses purely on the construction of the Petrol Forecourt side of business, along with Domestic Building projects of up to £500k. With the team having weathered through recessionary times, the future looks good and the SCF team have a mass of accumulated experience which clients continue to value and appreciate. Mike’s vast experience with a lifetime of construction makes SCF a truly unique company in this area.
